Cluster Academy 2012
Clusterland Oberösterreich GmbH is perceived as a truly successful model of a "cluster region”. Each year, numerous delegations visit "Clusterland Upper Austria Ltd." to gather information about successful cluster management. In 2008, the organisation decided to develope a general "Cluster Academy". Now for the fourth time, Clusterland hosted the 3-day workshop from 16th to 18th of April in Linz.
Upper Austrian experience
In this 4th Cluster Academy, 24 people from Hungary, Denmark, Turkey, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria and Latvia participated. Cluster managers, representatives from federal ministries and location & innovation agencies benefit from Upper Austria's experience in this field. Werner Pamminger, CEO of Clusterland Upper Austria Ltd.: „We want to show our participants, how successfull cluster policy works, of course within Austria's political and economical conditions. There are various conditions in other regions, therefore the concept should not be seen as predestinated - it should be adapted depending on branches and regions.
Comprehensive Programme
By sharing Best-Practice examples from a longtime cluster policy in Upper Austria, the participants had the chance to gather useful information for their cluster institutions. The lecturers were pleased about an active audience, lively discussions and a good collaboration.
In presentation blocks, Clusterland shared again its expertise in cluster management operations, such as knowledge management, initiation and support of cooperation projects, qualification and event management, marketing&PR, internationalisation, financing and evaluation & measuring. The input of advisory board member Mag. Michael Farthofer (CEO of AKAtech) and a field trip to POLOPLAST (a partner-company of Plastics Cluster and Network Human Resources) spot the motivation of being active in a cluster. To foster networking and internationalisation, attractive side events gave the chance to get to know the other participants and the city of Linz.
