The Cross Border Award is an annual prize of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Lower Bavaria and the Chamber of Commerce in South Bohemia. The award honors companies with outstanding transborder cooperations within the three regions with other companies, universities, or R&D facilities.
The Upper Austrian awardee of the Cross Border Award 2009 is a partner of Clusterland Upper Austria Ltd. and a representative of the Clusterland advisory board: the Teufelberger Group. Dr. Michael Teufelberger, head of the advisory board of Clusterland Upper Austria Ltd., accepted the prize with pleasure.
The Teufelberger Group stands for a dynamic group of companies working with three key technologies, relying on more than 200 years of experience. In addition to wire ropes for ropeways, cranes, and for use in forestry, Teufelberger is also active in the segments synthetic fibers (fiber ropes for marine applications, high-performance ropes for industry, forestry, arboriculture, and special-purpose applications) and extrusion (plastic strapping and baler twines).
Teufelberger started in 1989 a subsidiary in South Bohemia and 1998 they opened a factory for fiber ropes in Veselì (Czech Republic). Especially this location is closely integrated in the captive research and development of the Teufelberger Group.
The next Cross Border Award will be presented in spring 2010 in Upper Austria.
